Creating Opportunities For Farmers in Agriculture

Ag Ventures Alliance will be hosting a night where farmers can learn about new opportunities being created for them in agriculture. This event will be held on Monday, December 2nd at the Cass County Community Center (805 West 10th St) in Atlantic, Iowa. Registration and resource tables will go from 5:00 – 5:30 pm. At 5:30 pm the evening will get underway with a catered dinner. Co-Sponsored by Iowa Quality Producers Alliance and Farm Credit Services.
At 6:00 pm we will hear from keynote speaker, Glen Smith, Chairman and CEO of the Farm Credit Administration. He also serves as a member of the board of directors of the Farm Credit System Insurance Corporation, which is an independent US government corporation responsible for ensuring the timely payment of principal and interest on insured notes, bonds, debentures, and other obligations issued on behalf of FCS banks. Mr. Smith is a native of Atlantic, Iowa, where he was raised on a diversified crop and livestock farm. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in agricultural business and accepted a position with Doane Agricultural Services as state manager of the company’s farm real estate division He is a lifelong member of the Farm Bureau, Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Soybean Association, and Iowa Cattlemen’s Association.
At 7:15 pm there will be a panel discussion with Ag Ventures Alliance and AgLaunch. Ag Ventures Alliance is a nationally recognized farmer owned organization that’s primary purpose is making early stage investments in innovative technologies that enhance on-farm profitability. They strive to leave a legacy for the farmer by making opportunistic early stage investments in agricultural innovation.
