On April 19, 2018, the Rural Development Partners (RDP) Board of Directors appointed Jonathan Klaassen as Chief Executive Officer. Jude Conway had served as CEO of RDP since the retirement of former CEO Terry Carpenter in December 2017 until the hiring of Klaassen in April 2018.
Mr. Klaassen’s management experience includes serving as a bank board director and executive officer. In the role of senior loan officer, he was responsible for the quality, profitability, and growth of the bank’s loan portfolio. Mr. Klaassen chaired the credit approval committee and supervised the department heads of loan operations, commercial, ag, and personal lending.
Mr. Klaassen served on the Forest City Chamber of Commerce and Forest City Economic Development boards of directors. He was board chair of the Winnebago County Community Foundation and is a member of Forest City Rotary Club. Prior to banking, Mr. Klaassen was a high school math teacher. He and his wife Allison, an elementary school teacher, reside in Forest City, Iowa with their three young children.
Mr. Klaassen’s successes building and leading a team to develop, underwrite, close, and service loan assets make him uniquely qualified to strengthen and expand the established capabilities and successes of RDP. The transition to Mr. Klaassen’s leadership is anticipated to be smooth given on-going participation of the leadership team which has been in place since the establishment of the CDE.
